PewDiePie Is Ending His YouTube Vlogs to Protect His Son's Privacy
May 26, 2026 · 2 min read
PewDiePie has announced that he and his wife Marzia will stop uploading their regular family vlogs in September 2026, ending a nearly four-year run of documenting their life in Japan. The reason, he says, is simple: they want their 3-year-old son Björn to have control over his own presence online.
“Now he's 3 years old and we feel like it's a good time to end the vlogs. If he wants to be part of it, that should be his choice later.”
The video titled “Ending the vlogs” was uploaded to PewDiePie's channel on May 23. In it, he explained that the vlog series originally started around the time the couple relocated to Japan, as a way to share the experience of adapting to a new country.
Over time, the series grew a dedicated audience. PewDiePie acknowledged the community's warmth had encouraged them to keep going — but said Björn had gradually become “too much a part” of the content as he aged. He added that the pressure of regular uploads was creating an uncomfortable dynamic around their son's appearance online.
“We just feel like the vlogs puts too much pressure on his appearance online,” PewDiePie said. The couple will still share occasional photos or clips, but the structured, scheduled vlog format will end in September.
PewDiePie — real name Felix Kjellberg — remains one of YouTube's most recognisable creators with over 110 million subscribers, having been among the platform's top creators for well over a decade.
