Twitch has started handing out Pokémon chat badges, and unlike most drops this one is mostly about patience rather than money. Pichu is free. The three starters need a sub or a gifted sub. And every single badge requires the same thing: 20 minutes of watching on three separate days — which is why leaving it until late September is how people end up with an empty collection.

How to Get the Badges
- 1Open a stream in one of the qualifying categories. A free Poké Ball lands in your account straight away — that one becomes Pichu.
- 2Watch 20 minutes in a qualifying category. That counts as day one.
- 3Repeat on two more separate days. They do not have to be consecutive, but they do have to be different days — three sessions in one evening will not work.
- 4The Poké Ball opens and the badge is yours, visible in every chat on Twitch.
- 5For the starters, subscribe or gift a sub to a qualifying channel. Each one earns another Poké Ball, up to three, then run the same 20-minutes-on-3-days routine for each.
The three-day rule is the whole difficulty
Twitch describes the requirement per Poké Ball, so a full set is a commitment measured in days, not hours. There is no way to speed it up by watching longer — start early and treat it as a routine.

Poké Balls from subs are capped at three per user, which is deliberately exactly enough for all three starters — there is no advantage to gifting more than three subs for badge purposes.
The Part That Catches People Out
Prime subs do not count. Neither do subs you are already paying for. Twitch excludes both, so if your plan was to burn your monthly Prime sub for a Charmander, it will not produce a Poké Ball. It has to be a new paid sub or a gifted sub to a qualifying channel.
Watch time also only counts inside specific categories. Anything outside this list does nothing for your Poké Balls:
Two Extra Badges, Three Days Only
Separate from the main promotion, two costumed Pikachu badges are tied to the Pokémon World Championships and are available on August 28–30, 2026 only. These do not use the three-day rule:

60 minutes across the pokemon, pokemonTCG, pokemonGO or pokemonUNITE channels.
A three-day window is unforgiving, so these are the two worth putting in a calendar. Everything else can be picked up gradually until October 1.
Evolutions Are Coming
Twitch says evolved versions of these badges arrive later and will evolve automatically as you keep watching, with a new Collections view showing what you have earned and what is still available. That makes the base badges worth grabbing now even if you are indifferent to the current forms — they look like the entry point to a longer collection mechanic rather than a one-off drop.
