Twitch Opens Sponsorships to Affiliates — and Wehype Is the New Partner
·6 min read
Twitch has opened brand sponsorships to Affiliates, ending a Partner-only restriction on one of the more meaningful earners on the platform. There is a condition — certification is mandatory — and a second detail worth as much attention as the first: the third-party platform now feeding offers into the dashboard is Wehype, in the slot StreamElements has occupied since early 2025.

What You Need to Qualify
Affiliate status alone is not enough. Twitch has put a gate in front of the program, and it is a short one:
- 1
Complete the Creator Sponsorship Certification
A free Creator Camp course. Passing it puts a Creator Sponsorship Certified badge on your profile, which is the trust signal brands filter on.
- 2
Accept the terms in the Sponsorship Portal
A one-time step inside the Portal. Without it you will not appear as eligible for campaigns.
- 3
Meet each brand's own criteria
Twitch opens the door; brands still set their own per-campaign requirements, so eligibility is decided campaign by campaign rather than once.
The certification itself is not new — we covered it when it launched with 12-hour early access to Open Invite campaigns. What changed on August 20 is its weight: it went from a perk that got you in a queue earlier to the entry requirement for the whole program.
The Tools You Get
Sponsorship Dashboard
Runs a campaign end to end — offers in, deliverables, execution — instead of the usual scatter of DMs and spreadsheets.
Creator Profile
Your pitch page for brands, including Sponsorship Highlights — clips you choose to show what a sponsored segment looks like on your channel.
Discovery is mostly out of your hands, which makes the parts you control worth the effort:
- Direct brand invitations when you match a campaign's criteria
- Email and dashboard notifications for matching opportunities
- A filled-out Creator Profile, including Sponsorship Highlights clips
- The certification badge, which brands use as a shortlist filter
Twitch × Wehype

Wehype, a creator marketing platform, now surfaces sponsorship offers directly inside the Twitch dashboard — campaigns it has sold to brands itself, rather than ones Twitch's own sales team brought in. In practice that means a second pipeline of deals arriving in the same interface, available globally. The first one out of the gate is an EA campaign for Battlefield, launching the same week as the announcement.
For a mid-sized Affiliate this is the part that matters most. Twitch's in-house sales attention goes to the top of the platform by definition; an embedded third party whose whole business is matching brands to mid-tier creators changes the odds of a campaign actually reaching you.
The Slot StreamElements Used to Hold
This integration is not a new idea, and that is what makes the naming interesting. In February 2025 Twitch announced exactly this kind of embedded sponsorship pipeline with StreamElements — described at the time as the first third-party partner built directly into the platform, with Partners first and Affiliates unlocked weeks later.
The August 20 announcement fills that role with Wehype and does not mention StreamElements at all. Twitch has not said the earlier integration has ended, so the honest reading is that the in-dashboard sponsorship slot now carries a different name and the status of the old one is unconfirmed.
The timing is hard to ignore. StreamElements spent the first half of 2026 in visible trouble over unpaid creator payouts before Razer acquired its assets on July 31, with the seller keeping responsibility for pre-closing debts. Three weeks later, the sponsorship slot inside Twitch is being introduced with someone else in it.
What to Actually Do This Week
If you are an Affiliate, the sequence is short and none of it is gated behind audience size: take the Creator Camp certification, accept the Portal terms, then spend real time on the Creator Profile — a written pitch and a set of Sponsorship Highlights clips that show a brand what their segment would look like. Brands filter on that page before they ever send an invitation.
Worth pairing with the money side: our affiliate programs guide covers deals you can run without waiting to be picked, and monetization strategies puts sponsorships next to subs, Bits and direct support.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can Twitch Affiliates get sponsorships now?
Yes. As of August 20, 2026, brand sponsorships that were previously available only to Partners are open to Affiliates. Access runs through the same Sponsorship Dashboard and Creator Profile that Partners use.
What do you need to qualify for Twitch sponsorships as an Affiliate?
Two things on your side: complete the Creator Sponsorship Certification, a free course on Creator Camp, and accept the terms in the Sponsorship Portal. After that, individual brands still apply their own criteria to each campaign.
What is the Creator Sponsorship Certification?
A free educational course on Twitch's Creator Camp covering how sponsorships work and what brands expect. Completing it awards a Creator Sponsorship Certified badge displayed on your Creator Profile, and it is now a hard requirement for sponsorship access rather than a nice-to-have.
What is Wehype and why is it on Twitch?
Wehype is a third-party creator marketing platform. Under the new arrangement it surfaces additional sponsorship offers directly inside the Twitch Sponsorship Dashboard, giving creators access to campaigns sourced outside Twitch's own sales team. An EA campaign for Battlefield is launching through Wehype in the same week as the announcement.
Did Wehype replace StreamElements as Twitch's sponsorship partner?
Twitch has not said so directly. What is on the record: in February 2025 Twitch announced an embedded sponsorship integration with StreamElements — described at the time as the first third-party partner built into the platform — and the August 20, 2026 announcement names Wehype in that role without mentioning StreamElements. Whether the earlier integration has ended has not been confirmed.
How do brands find you for Twitch sponsorships?
Mostly by filtering. Brands send invitations to creators who match a campaign, and Twitch notifies you by email and in the dashboard. What you control is your Creator Profile — the description, the Sponsorship Highlights clips you pick, and the certification badge.
How much do Twitch sponsorships pay?
Twitch has not published rates. Sponsorship pay is set per campaign by the brand and depends on deliverables, audience size and category, so there is no platform-wide figure. Treat the dashboard as deal flow, not a fixed rate card.
Is this available worldwide?
Twitch describes the rollout as global and the Wehype opportunities as covering creators worldwide, with no regional restrictions stated in the announcement.
