What Is a Good CPM and CTR for TikTok Ads? 2026 Benchmarks and the Metrics Behind Them
By Sofia Vance··8 min read
A good TikTok CPM in 2026 is about $4–5 per 1,000 impressions and a good CTR is about 0.6%. Those are medians from the two largest published data sets, not TikTok's own numbers — TikTok publishes no benchmarks at all. The rest of this page is what moves each figure and which Ads Manager metrics to read instead of CPM alone.
The short answer, with sources
CPM
$4.08 – $4.80
median per 1,000 impressions
CTR
0.61%
both data sets land on the same figure
CPA
$17.07
median cost per acquisition, ecommerce
CVR
1.56% – 1.92%
conversions per impression / per click
The $4.08 CPM, 0.61% CTR, $17.07 CPA and 1.56% CVR are Triple Whale's figures across 5,900+ ecommerce brands for August 1, 2025 to July 31, 2026. The $4.80 CPM, 0.61% CTR and 1.92% CVR are Lebesgue's for ecommerce conversion campaigns, published September 23, 2026. Both samples are ecommerce; if you are advertising an app or a service, treat them as a reference point, not a target. Neither publishes a CPC. Dividing CPM by the clicks a 0.61% CTR yields per thousand impressions gives roughly $0.67–0.79 per destination click — our arithmetic, not theirs.
Year on year, the larger set shows CPM down 24%, CTR down 13% and CPA down 31%. Impressions got cheaper and people clicked less, and the net effect was still a cheaper conversion. That ordering matters: a falling CTR with a falling CPA is not a problem.
Benchmarks by industry
Medians by vertical from the same 5,900-brand set. The spread is the point: a Pets brand at 0.41% CTR is on benchmark, an Apparel brand at 0.41% is a third below it.
| Industry | CPM | CTR | CPA |
|---|---|---|---|
| Apparel & Accessories | $4.16 | 0.74% | $20.64 |
| Beauty | $3.92 | 0.51% | $10.32 |
| Home & Garden | $4.61 | 0.59% | $19.33 |
| Food & Beverage | $4.54 | 0.45% | $12.44 |
| Toys, Art & Collectibles | $4.40 | 0.55% | $18.37 |
| Sports & Outdoors | $3.46 | 0.54% | $14.67 |
| Electronics | $4.40 | 0.64% | $28.90 |
| Health & Wellness | $3.67 | 0.51% | $11.17 |
| Pets & Animals | $4.59 | 0.41% | $5.46 |
| Lifestyle & Boutique | $4.01 | 0.61% | $19.59 |

What your CPM depends on
CPM is not a price list; it is what the auction cleared at for the audience you asked for. Five things set it, and all five are in TikTok's own documentation.
Bidding method
TikTok prices Reach campaigns on CPM, Video Views on CPV, and most conversion objectives on oCPM, where your bid is still per thousand impressions but delivery goes to people likely to act. An oCPM campaign chasing purchases buys a narrower, pricier slice of inventory than a Reach campaign, so its CPM is higher by design.
Audience size
TikTok's own low-impressions checklist says to broaden targeting to reach more people and to raise the bid if it is too low to compete. Both point the same way: the tighter the audience, the more you pay per thousand to win it.
Learning phase
TikTok says volatility typically starts to decline after about 25 campaign results or 7 days. CPM read before that point is noise, not a benchmark. Pausing, editing, or an unreasonable budget keeps a campaign in learning and keeps the number unstable.
Seasonality and competition
The 5,900-brand data set shows CPM falling 24% year on year to $4.08. Nothing in TikTok's documentation explains that; it is the auction clearing lower. Expect the opposite in the weeks before major shopping dates.
Creative that gets skipped
TikTok counts a 6-second focused view when someone watches 6 seconds or interacts within them. A creative that loses people before that costs impressions without earning the engagement signals the delivery system optimises on, and the Video Views objective is priced on exactly that 6-second threshold.
Budget sets the floor on how much of this you can test. TikTok's minimums are above $50 a day per campaign and above $20 a day per ad group; its budget guidance for a first conversion campaign is 10× your current CPA for deep events like purchases, or $200 if you have no CPA yet. Our TikTok ads cost guide turns those into a starter budget.
What your CTR depends on
Three things, in order of how much they move the number.
- Which clicks you are counting. TikTok reports clicks (all) — including likes, follows and other social interactions — separately from clicks (destination), the ones that reached your URL. Only the destination figure is comparable to the 0.61% benchmark.
- Objective and bidding. A Traffic campaign on CPC is optimised for clicks and will post a higher CTR than a Reach campaign on CPM that is optimised for impressions. Comparing the two is comparing what each was told to do.
- The creative and the call to action. The CTA button is required on everything except video-view ads, its colour is auto-matched and its text comes from TikTok's fixed list. Spark Ads add two surfaces a standard ad lacks — the profile and the sound are clickable — so part of the attention goes somewhere other than your link. How Spark Ads differ.
The TikTok Ads Manager metrics worth reading
CPM and CTR are the two numbers people search for, and they are the two least useful on their own. These are the ones to put next to them, with TikTok's definitions.
| Metric | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Cost per result | The number you are actually paying for. Compare campaigns by the result each was optimised for, not by CPM — a Reach campaign and a Sales campaign are not buying the same thing. |
| CTR (destination) | Clicks that led to your set destination ÷ impressions. TikTok separates destination clicks from clicks (all), which include likes, follows and other social interactions. Benchmark against the destination figure. |
| CVR and CVR (clicks) | TikTok defines CVR as conversions ÷ impressions and CVR (clicks) as conversions ÷ destination clicks. A good CTR with a bad CVR (clicks) is a landing page problem, not an ad problem. |
| 6-second video views and 25/50/75/100% views | Where the drop-off happens. TikTok counts each impression separately and excludes replays, so these are honest retention curves. |
| Frequency and cost per 1,000 people reached | Frequency is the average number of times each user saw the ad. CPM can look flat while frequency climbs and reach stalls — the audience is exhausted. |
What TikTok does not document. There is no published benchmark for CPM, CTR or CPA, and no standalone definition of CTR in the metrics glossary — CPM is named as the unit TikTok bids and reports in, CPC (destination) is defined, CTR is only a report column. Any page giving you "TikTok's official good CTR" is quoting someone else's data.
Reading your own numbers
Take a full week after launch, because TikTok says volatility only starts to settle after about 25 results or 7 days. Then check in this order: cost per result against what the result is worth to you; CVR (clicks) to see whether the landing page is converting the clicks you bought; CTR (destination) to see whether the creative is earning clicks; and only then CPM, to see what the audience cost. If CPM is high and everything downstream is fine, you are paying for a good audience. If CPM is on benchmark and CTR is half of it, the creative is the problem, and no bidding change fixes creative.
Before any of that, the account itself has to be approved — most reviews take under 24 hours, but ads do not run until it clears. If you have not set one up yet, our TikTok Business account guide covers the account types and the new-advertiser credit.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a good CPM for TikTok ads?
On the two largest published 2026 data sets, the median TikTok CPM is between $4.08 (Triple Whale, 5,900+ ecommerce brands, August 2025 to July 2026) and $4.80 (Lebesgue, ecommerce conversion campaigns, September 2026). Anything in the $4–5 range is normal; a Reach campaign on CPM bidding should sit below it, a conversion campaign on oCPM often sits above it. TikTok itself publishes no benchmark CPM.
What is a good CTR for TikTok ads?
Both 2026 data sets report a median click-through rate of 0.61%, down from 0.70% a year earlier. By industry it ranges from 0.41% (Pets & Animals) to 0.74% (Apparel & Accessories). Compare your CTR (destination), not clicks (all), because TikTok's all-clicks figure includes likes, follows and other interactions that never reach your site.
What metrics does TikTok Ads Manager report?
TikTok groups them into core metrics (impressions, reach, frequency, clicks (all), clicks (destination), paid likes), conversion metrics (conversions, CVR, CVR (clicks), plus real-time versions), cost metrics (cost, CPC (destination), cost per conversion, cost per 1,000 people reached) and video play metrics (video views, 2-second and 6-second views, views at 25/50/75/100%, average play time per user and per view, focused views). Attribution, page-event and in-app-event metrics sit on top of those.
Does TikTok publish a definition of CTR?
Not as a standalone entry. TikTok's basic-metrics glossary defines clicks (destination), impressions and CPC (destination), and names CPM as the unit it bids and reports in, but there is no published CTR line. The Ads Manager column is CTR (destination): destination clicks divided by impressions, shown as a percentage. That is the figure benchmarks refer to.
Why is my CPM higher than the benchmark?
Usually one of four things. You are on oCPM for a conversion objective, which deliberately buys a narrower audience than the benchmark average. Your audience is small, so you are paying to win a thin slice of the auction. The campaign is still in learning — TikTok says volatility only starts to settle after about 25 results or 7 days. Or your creative is losing people before the 6-second mark, which starves the delivery system of signals.
How much is a TikTok click?
Neither data set publishes CPC directly. Dividing the median CPM by the clicks a 0.61% CTR produces per thousand impressions gives roughly $0.67 to $0.79 per destination click. That is our arithmetic, not a published figure, and it only holds for the ecommerce samples those medians come from.
How long should I wait before judging the numbers?
TikTok's learning phase guidance: about 25 campaign results or 7 days, whichever comes first, before volatility starts to decline. TikTok also says not to change targeting, bids or budget on a conversion campaign before it leaves learning, and to keep later budget changes within about 30–50% and at least two days apart. Judge CPM and CTR on a full week, not a day.
